Hello after a lung scan I was found to have a mass they wasn’t sure about. Had a wedge resection but then found it was cancer nd needed the full top right lobe out. Op went ok. Am now starting chemotherapy 16th January. Nurses talked me through everything but I was wondering if anyone had any hints or tips to help me through it…..actually quite scared now it’s getting near.

i will be having 1 day chemo 20 days to recover before the next cycle…4 cycles in total.

Is there any must haves for when having the treatment or for the following days. Thank you for reading

  • Hello Dawnofbeck,

You'll get more relevant answers if you join the specific forum for your type of cancer, which I think latchbrook suggested in a reply to your earlier post. I've placed a link to the lung cancer forum below. If you click on this, join the group and repost your question there you'll receive specific replies from members on there.

There can be different chemo treatments for lung cancer and it would be useful if you include the names of the one(s) you will be having so you receive more specific answers.

    Derek.

  • Hi Dawnofbeck I've had previous nine rounds of chemotherapy an operation 9 rounds of radiation and now I've had two rounds of 14 new chemotherapy which started December. Like you before I started I was beyond terrified and being as I am on my own and have a anxiety disorder I found the first few rounds very hard plus I had awful side effects I actually made them stop at one point as I mentally could not cope the only thing that has really helped me it might sound silly is to listen to music on my headphones during my chemotherapy a small thing I know but for me it's made the whole thing bearable just putting my head in a different space has made a world of difference to me best of luck to you!
