I have just been diagnosed with HR-/HER2+ stage 3 breast cancer (lymph nodes are cancerous) with grade 3 cells in all biopsies.
The diagnosis was made privately, and today I have been referred into the NHS system to await treatment.
I'm clueless as to whether I can track the referral in any way. My GP surgery is on holiday until Jan 6th. At some point, should I contact the hospital to find out something about possible timelines? Or would that just be annoying and useless?
Because the cancer seemed to arrive so suddenly (my breast ballooned in a matter of weeks, followed by my armpit), I am of course now petrified that it will be spreading while I wait for treatment. Is there anything I can do to help my body??? Almost all the "usual" "healthy things" (e.g. vitamins) seem to be contraindicated...
Any advice, tips, and thoughts, would be much appreciated as I face this journey on which I'm guessing none of us wanted to embark.
Hi SeekingToLive and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I' was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago so have a good idea how you're feeling right now.
The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and posted in the breast cancer group which is a great place to connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you Anne! I've added my diagnosis to my "biography" - I hope that's the correct thing to do.
Yes, that's great. When you know what your treatment plan is going to be you can add that too if you want to.
