Hi

Back in 2021 I had Breast cancer and Thyroid cancer at the same time (both primary). I am doing fine from them. However, back in may this year I was told I have MGUS. No one can tell me how likely this is to turn into cancer, but it plays on my mind all the time. I worry, that it will develop and I just don't know who to talk to. My doctor, doesn't see that some issue I am having are connected. I just don't know what to do.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I'm sorry to read how worried you are about being diagnosed with MGUS.

I don't have any experience with MGUS but Macmillan has this information which you might find helpful in answering some of your questions. You'll see that it says that it's "a non-cancerous condition and that most people with MGUS never develop a related cancer and do not need treatment".

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the myeloma group as you'll then connect directly with others who have been diagnosed with MGUS.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
