Hello all. I’m new to the group.
I write to share an experience and seek some feedback on whether this is normal.
My wife had a colonoscopy and there is concern about a growth being possibly cancerous. The sent a biopsy for urgent review and said it would be 2-3 weeks. A hellish wait ensued. This became 4 weeks then 5. Now over 5 weeks the results are back but don’t know what they are as we are now waiting for the consultant to review them.
This feel like torture! The consultant goes Ona 2 week holiday soon. Neither my wife or can can sleep with worry.
Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Should we be complaining?
Hi James69York and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I can certainly empathise with how awful waiting for results can be.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have had the same type of biopsy as your wife and who can share their experience with test result waiting times.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Wishing you all the best
