Anxious mess

Hi,

I just need to post and be reassured about this.

I recently got an urgent referral for cervical cancer and I’m very anxious now.

My GP did a quick exam (whilst I was on my period) and said my cervix looked a bit red and referred me. She didn’t seem very worried and when I asked her about cancer she said it probably isn’t that. She said it looked like cervical ectropion but that it could be changes in the cells and that in years it could be cancer. But then she did the urgent referral so now I’m concerned.

I went to the GP in the first place because of post coital bleeding but this is something I have had on and off for years now and I had it checked out when it first happened so I didn’t even think to be concerned about it. I have no other symptoms but now I’m overthinking everything especially after receiving the emails with the words “urgent cancer referral” on them.

any words to calm me down would be very appreciated!

Thank you!
