I have had a lump in my breast for about 6 months now but put off having it looked at for so long as I was caring for my Mum at home who had terminal  bowel cancer and I was her carer. She sadly died in May  and I am still grieving her loss ,then there was her funeral to organize and legal stuff with the solicitor and on top of all this my own sister had a pre cancerous mass removed two weeks before mum passed away so I wanted to be around for the both of them .There was just no way I could be ill or under going hospital visits l and I was physically and mentally drained .Now things have settled down a bit so I knew I had to do something about this lump which I have tried to put to the back of my mind as there was too much to cope with. But all the stuff you read says you should go to a doctor as soon as as you discover something so now I worry I may have left it too long .Is there anyone else out there who had to delay starting the process? And how has it turned out?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I'm glad to read that you've made an appointment to have a breast lump checked. Although this lump could be something simple like a cyst, it's always best to get checked.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who can share their experiences with you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    Wishing you all the best
