TUG surgery

Hi, I had a mastectomy with implant replacement two years ago despite being recommended a TUG op as I was concerned about how the TUG would impact my sports - I run and ski a lot. I'm now going for TUG surgery (Dec 10th) as the implant looks very unnatural - so much tissue was taken that my skin is very thin and the edges of implant are very obvious, plus at every appointment I'm told I will eventually need TUG surgery as my implant will be rejected at some stage. I've given in and am just trying to prepare myself for the post op shenanigans. I've been so grateful for all the advice on this forum - it's been a massive help. Could someone tell me when and if they were able to resume running again? Thanks so much.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I had breast cancer I don't have any experience with the type of surgery you've had and are thinking of having.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of surgery as you'll be having.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
