What if?

Hi new to the forum. I had cervical cancer back in 1998 when I was 29. Luckily I had a successful radical hysterectomy which left me with my ovaries and not so lucky lymphoedema of my right leg.  I’ve been absolutely fine for the last 20 years which is great but went to the doctors recently as my bowel habits had changed. I’ve now had a colonoscopy which I can only describe as horrendous as it was so so painful. It turns out I have a 60mm polyp on my bowel. They’ve taken six biopsies and I had a CT scan a few days later. The enoscopists report says it’s a large disordered caecal polyp just proximal to ICV - it’s irregular and broad based and seemed fixed when biopsies taken.  After googling I am now terrified and can’t face another week waiting to hear if it’s malignant and even if it’s not the surgery does not sound good. Anyone else able to put my mind at rest x

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've not had a polyp on my bowel, I know how hard waiting for results can be.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have been where you are now or who are also waiting for results.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    Sending virtual ((hugs))
