Hi everyone, … this is my first post, I hope it’s not too long!
Two weeks ago I was told I have the above mass in my Vulva/Vagina …. this mass is very close to my urethra and so the Gynae team and the Urology team are both involved in the plan of treatment.
I have had several tests but no biopsy and I do not know if it is benign or cancer. I am told I will have an appointment in 30 days from my last hospital appointment which was on 16th October, so it should be in a few days, I’m obviously anxious.
Last evening I had a web chat with one of the nurses because I was worried about a nasty discharge and the hospital Gynae department was just not answering the phone to give advice. The Macmillan nurse was kind and understanding and made me feel so much better by offering a positive action which was to get in touch with my doctor if I couldn’t contact the hospital, because she suspected an infection which needed to be treated. Eventually I was prescribed antibiotics in a telephone call from my surgery.
I’m sure there are so many people in this awful no man’s land of not knowing and needing support and advice.and I am just so grateful to the nurse who chatted with me.
I wish you all good luck and good health.
Hi Annjo7e4b34 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to you I know how much better I felt when talking to others in the community who knew what I was dealing with.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the vulva cancer and vaginal cancer groups as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.
To join, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
