Waiting for biopsy

Hi all,

I was in hospital Friday with an unrelated issue. While running tests they informed me they found 2 lumps in my breast. They say they are not connected to anything and whatever they are it hasnt spread. I am waiting to get a letter about going for a biopsy and going a little bit crazy. I am trying to carry on as normal , work etc , why worry until you know you have too but , I find myself having little breakdowns when I think about it or if it gets mentioned. I know this is a normal response ,any tips on how you all manage without knowing please.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I found the best way to manage the wait was to try and fill my time doing things that I enjoyed.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have been where you are now or who are also waiting for a biopsy.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

    Sending you virtual ((hugs))

  • The waiting part is the hardest, I know. I had a mammogram which showed up a problem and I was called to have another mammogram and possible ultrasound and biopsy. From that appointment things progressed quickly and I had a lumpectomy 4 weeks ago. It's natural for you to worry and be upset and I've found that talking about it helps you through the initial shock, then some form of distraction, reading, going for walks, doing something you enjoy or even something new you've always wanted to try. There are people here who understand and will listen and I hope you hear something soon. While you wait, take care of yourself and spoil yourself a bit.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to you as well.

Thanks very much for taking the type to reply to yorkgirl76438abe and share your experience.

As I said to her, the breast cancer group is a great place to get support from fellow cancer sufferers so you might like to join to.

    Best wishes
