I have had a stoma for two years now after having major cancer surgery.
I am still on cancer tablets and immunotherapy and have recently had alot of infections and antibiotics. My stoma started to produce excess mucus and I have been advised to take vitamin C and prebiotic. These however don't seem to have helped. Has anyone had the same issue or have any more advice?
Thanks.
Hi J Sharp95b1d6 and welcome to the community.
I’d recommend that you join our stoma support group, which would be the best place to connect with others living with stomas caused by various cancers. If you could let us know which cancer you have, we can also direct you to a forum specific to that type of cancer where you can get support and advice.
I’ll put a direct link to the stoma forum here-
If you click on this link, you can join the group and put a post up there to introduce yourself. It would be helpful when you post there if you can share the type of stoma you have as the group offers support for different types. For example I have both a urostomy and colostomy and I don’t have experience of an ileostomy, so it will be useful for others to know how best to help if we have a little more information from you.
