Hi,

I am rejoining these forums after 9 years which was when I lost my husband to cancer and these forums helped me help him through his illness. Now I'm back this time with my own diagnosis of stage1b melanoma and absolutely scared stiff and hoping there are some friendly people out there

I had my diagnosis at the weekend have told the kids, all grown up but still difficult for them remembering what their Dad went through. But now I'm on my own and nights are difficult  when things get out of hand in my mind.

Where do you start to try and put everything into perspective I don't know. But I do know just bring part of this group will help so in advance thank you

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find just as informative and supportive as you did before.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I was diagnosed with melanoma 9 years ago now so have a good idea how scared you're probably feeling right now.

The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see you've already found and joined the melanoma group which is a great place to connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

When you feel ready, you can start a new post in the same way there as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'. You'll find we're a friendly bunch with people at all stages of treatment.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

Sorry about your diagnosis. Night time is the worst, the brain goes into overdrive and thinks allsorts. I tried to keep myself busy with things I enjoyed to keep my mind occupied. I also did breathing exercises when I was in bed if my mind started to wander.  Sending hugs. Xx

    • Thank you  I will update my profile
  • Thank you I will try some breathing exercises that's sounds like a good start
