  • Hi, I've was diagnosed with breast cancer in April this year. Had the tumour removed in June and was told I'm grade 3. Had a picc line inserted this morning ready for chemo on Mo day. My emotions are all over the place and every other pain I get is the cancer spreading according to my mind. Is this normal or just me?
  • This is all very normal. I think most people think it has spread but it hasn’t.

I still get it now and I’m still on chemo tablets.

    Just try stay positive xx

  • Thank you for your reply. It's a new situation for me to be in, like anyone else, and just the thought of having chemo is making me think  irrationality. Im trying really hard not to do what it's but its difficult.

  • What chemo are yoy having?
I had it before surgery. I’m 36 (35 diagnosed) and a drama queen. If I can get through it so can anyone Sparkling heart

I’m not saying it’s a breeze but you’ll manage. There is plenty of medications they give you for all diff scenarios and remember - everyone’s journey is different.

having a picc line is the best thing I had cos chemo does your veins!xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022. I had surgery in May and then started chemotherapy at the beginning of July, so a very similar timeline.

To answer your question, yes it's perfectly normal to worry that any aches and pains are as a result of your cancer spreading but, they probably are just normal aches and pains that you wouldn't have given a thought to previously. With time you'll adjust but you just need to be kind to yourself in the meantime.

The online community is actually divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
