I have just had a meeting with urology department to get my biopsy results.  I was told the tumour on my bladder is T3 and they are advising I have a full removal of my bladder and prostate , this was not the news I was hoping for and its reallt messing with my head . Am struggling to come to terms with having a stoma,  I feel like a part of me is being taken away and I have no control over things , I was hoping with all the changes I had made I would have a more positive outcome.  They did say I could possible habe 3 months of chemo but I coild still loose my bladder, and during this time due to the tumor being aggressive it could spread and things coild get alot worse . Am due to meet with oncologist next week and they have booked me in for surgery in 3 weeks.

Its all become so real as I dont feel ill, since I found out I had cancer I have changed my diet made massive changes in my life ,.its feels like all those changes dosnt make a difference.

  • Hi Alec

    Welcome to the Online Community.

I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of bladder cancer. I understand that it is hard when you are told that you need such big surgery. It is understandable to be struggling at the thought of having a stoma.

The online community is divided into sections for cancer types and experiences and I wonder whether it would be helpful to have a look at these groups. Sometimes it can help to talk to those who have had a similar experience.

It may well be worth having a look at the Prostate group as there may be gentlemen there who have had a similar surgery.

Being diagnosed with cancer can feel very overwhelming and it can be a time where there are lots of questions, decisions to make and also waiting.  if it would help to talk to someone then please do give the Support Line a call. They are there from 8am-8pm daily.

I hope that your appointment next week goes as well as it can. In the meantime we are here if you need us.

  • Hi

Please don't feel like your lifestyle changes haven't helped you, I'm sure they have. Plus if you have to go down the surgery route I'm sure they will help with recovery etc. Sending hugs. Xx
