My husband was diagnosed with mesothelioma back in January 2025, we have only just been referred to a Palliative Care Team, he is very brave and doesn’t complain apart from having increasing discomfort with ‘band’ pains in arm and around the chest. He has been prescribed Oxycodone and Pregabalin. He has only had two Pregabalin one last night and one this morning along with 0.8mm of Oxycodone last night, but he is very muddled and not himself, seeing or hearing things that are not there, this has gone on all day. He is on some strong Antibiotics started yesterday for a suspected bacterial chest pain infection. Are these symptoms of taking these drugs or could it be infection or the effect of the disease?

A cancer diagnosis in the family like this can be such a challenging and stressful time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' support challenges can help you a lot.

This group is a safe place to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from family members who are navigating the same support journey.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.
Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
