Hi everyone,

I’m new to online MacMillan website, I was diagnosed last May, have had SRS to my brain tumour which is no longer visible, I’m waiting for my driving license to be returned after two clear scans.

I’ve had radiotherapy to my lung, followed by 4 rounds of two lots of chemotherapy & immunotherapy & am continuing with immunotherapy now every 6 wks.

My lung cancer was still reducing, albeit slightly on my last scans, 3 months ago - I’ve just had my latest CT’s & MRI scans last week & I get my results on Friday.

I was given 12-18 months on diagnosis, which was quite a shock, I was only diagnosed by an X-ray prior to starting treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, at present I feel reasonably fit & well.

I attended all appointments - scans, biopsies, results, oncologist & started chemo & immunotherapies alone, & I ended my relationship with my partner 6 months ago, after him offering no help love care support or empathy, I have 2 adult son’s one in their late 20’s the other mid 30’s.

I spend most of my time alone with my thoughts, but as I’m unable to drive at the moment feel quite isolated.

How does everyone cope with their prognosis?

 Who do you speak with?

How do you feel about being terminally ill?

Sorry for all the questions it’s the first time I’ve reached out to ask anything …

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I've had different cancer diagnoses to you I know how difficult life can be dealing with cancer.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the lung cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Anne,

Many thanks for your response, I’ve written on my bio & joined the lung forum too, lots of people very similar to me sadly, but I suppose it’s the cancer journey some have a reprieve others like me don’t unfortunately, but it’s taking each day as it come & make the most of every one of them.

    Thanks again Hugging
