Hi DISNEYFAN and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I was diagnosed with melanoma nearly 9 years ago now so I know how scared you're probably feeling right now.
You are right that melanoma is the worst of the skin cancers to have as it does have the possibility of spreading to other organs whereas it's rare for other types of skin cancer to do this.
However, the only way to know if your mole is a melanoma is for it to be removed and sent off to the pathology laboratories. Neither AI or a human can tell just by looking at it whether it's melanoma or not, but if it's suspicious then a biopsy is automatically done. I've had 2 suspicious moles removed, one turned out to be melanoma and the other didn't.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the melanoma group as you'll then connect directly with others who understand what you're going through and who will be happy to share their experiences with you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
