Hi, I was recently diagnosed with angiosarcoma of the femur. Was waiting for an op but then the bone broke and had to have an emergency half femur and knee replacement. Now nearly 9 weeks post op and starting 18 weeks of paclitaxel on Monday

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I had a different type of cancer to you, part of my treatment was 12 weeks of paclitaxel.

The online community is divided into different support groups where you can connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

I'm not sure if angiosarcoma of the femur is bone cancer or a soft tissue sarcoma so I'm going to give you links to both the bone cancer group and the soft tissue sarcoma group and you can join the correct one.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi, thanks for replying, the angiosarcoma was in the bone, but then because it broke it leaked into soft tissue also so I had to have both removed... histology said good clearance was achieved for both bone and soft tissue though, so fingers crossed
