Hello everyone
I am new to this group feeling very anxious presently.
my mum has had a total hysterectomy and completed 25 treatments after surgery of radiotherapy.
next week she starts chemotherapy were she’s going to loose her hair this will be upsetting and I’m supporting her the best way I know how .. she has a super women teddy in her bag I bought her and we’ve looked into head scarfs etc.
while mum was halfway through her radiotherapy my husband was then diagnosed with rectal cancer into his anal canal my world fell apart.
my husband commences 25 sessions of radiotherapy and chemotherapy joint in a hope for total shrinkage …. My anxiety Is high as he has chosen this option as the other is surgery and a colostomy bag.
His oncologist told him he’s a 25% chance of not needing surgery not big enough odds of me …
and knowing my mums had been taken away then treatment weee as my husbands is still there
Thanks for listening if there is anyone else had these options with rectal cancer I would appreciate your thoughts on my anxiety
Hi BradleyJ and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I was the one with cancer I know how a cancer diagnosis affects the whole family.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bowel cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others who either have this type of cancer or who are supporting someone with it.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
