Hi All,
I am new to the group. My mother is 75 years old, who was extremely active and had never suffered with poor health. We have recently been informed that she has a growth on her left lung, which has caused it to partially collapse, there are 4/5 lesions on her liver measuring up to 3 cms and abnormalities in her bones. The abnormalities in her bones are believed to have caused little fractures suspected to be pathology fractures.
Her mindset is not good because of the shock and pain she is in. We are attempting to manage her pain with morphine but it is early doors.
We have an appointment to see the lung cancer specialist on 6th June during which they want to do a bronchoscopy to take a tissue sample to identify the type of lung cancer, but she is petrified of this procedure.
Any advice and positive experiences would be appreciated?
thanks anna
Hello Anna (Anna marie)
A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community - although I am so sorry to find you here. I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online Community.
The Community is divided into cancer specific groups or forums and to "meet" others in the same or similar situation as your mother I would advise you to join the lung cancer group - here's the link you need:
Once you click on the link and the page opens up, click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the group you can introduce yourself by either reposting or copying and pasting your post in the "New Here - Say Hello" section - I am sure you will have plenty of replies.
As you have an appointment next Friday it's handy to have a list of questions ready and here's a link to help you make your list::
If I can do anything else for you please do let me know.
Best wishes - Brian.
