Hi

My partner has stage 4 lung cancer. He is receiving chemotherapy  and immunotherapy and is feeling OK at the moment. I think he is coping very well and is doing well. We plan to go abroad in July with family. Can anyone advise / share their experience of getting travel insurance? Do we go to a specialist company or ask our current insurance company for a quote? Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Hello Reef

A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online Community, although I am so sorry to find you here. I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the online community.

We have a special forum for Travel Insurance and a link to this where you can chat to others and check out the different options is here:

I found I got a better price by telephone for a quote and going through my diagnosis as I then knew I had answered all the questions. I do hope you sort something out and enjoy a holiday. Sunglasses.

I don't know if you are aware but we also have a dedicated Lung Cancer group where you can "meet" others on the same or similar journey to your partner and a link to this is here:

If I can do anything else for you please do get back to me.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you so much for your advice and quick response

  • My husband has stage 4 melanoma and we go away next week. We had a look at 'insurance with' and got quoted £100 for the year which is amazing in comparison to the quotes of £1000 we were getting! Would definitely recommend taking a look at them

  • Thank you. Thats a massive difference in price.
