Hi lovelies,

I am 75, just received a diagnosis of spinal cancer lesions. It has taken 8 months to get here, after a fall was misdiagnosed by 2 GPs, an X ray at local hospital only found ‘arthritis’. With ongoing pain, we PAID to see a consultant, and an MRI scan has found this.

I have got Zomorph/oromorph but am STILL waiting to be referred to Mt Vernon for radiotherapy.

So … send me your top coping tips. Should i go for walks despite the pain? what’s good to eat? Send me your ‘how to be brave’ memes. I am trying to stay positive. But right now it is hard! xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with spinal cancer lesions.

The online community is divided into different support groups and I'm not sure if 'spinal cancer lesions' are bone cancer. If so I'm going to recommend that you join the bone cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. If I've presumed wrongly, then take a look through this list to find the right group for your type of cancer.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thank you for this. I will sort it! ATM just at the tears and fears stage. X

  • I'm sure you'll get lots of support from the cancer group you join. The members can answer your question about whether you should still go for walks, and share their coping strategies with you.

No one here is brave, we're all just dealing with the hand we've been given, so don't feel that you're not 'being brave' or not 'being positive'.

    ((hugs))
