As the subject says really. I'm at a loss. I feel like ending it all, which is ironic as I'm frightened of dying. It's a complete shock.
Hi Ninamary and welcome to the Macmillan Community but so sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
Navigating the cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from others who are dealing with the ‘exact same' cancer type can help a lot.
I have been in my journey fir over 25 years reaching stage 4 in late 2013 but I am still here.
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)………… but you don’t say what type of cancer you have If you care to have a look through this link Cancer Specific Groups you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.
These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the exact same journey.
Have a look through the LIST above and once you find the support group for your cancer type....... click on the link and when the group page opens you will see a [Black - Click to Join - Banner] at the bottom of the page, click in this box and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.
When you are ready……. you can introduce yourself by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.
The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.
Do get back to me if you need further help navigating the community.
Thanks. I guess it will come under gyne but it's spread to the lymph nodes, I had no idea until today. It's a rare thing that's happened and also what happened (very cruelly) to ke many years ago when I 1st had cervical cancer ill try under cervical cancer
So sorry to hear your sad news. I too have stage 4 cancer and no matter what type it is, I think we all jump to thinking about the final curtain call. Somedays I too feel overwhelmed with sadness and certainly felt scared, so no doubt these are all emotions we will now have to experience. I don’t have any real words of wisdom, sorry, and we all deal with things differently so trained counsellors can no doubt help with suitable coping mechanisms. Engaging with people undergoing the same cancer type and treatment will hopefully offer you some hope and comfort on your journey. I know I have to get to a place of acceptance and appreciate the time I have left but in the meantime we still have hope if our Oncology team have treatment options available. I wish you all the best xx
Hi ShadyLady it’s a challenging journey to navigate but as you say, talking with others who are on the same pathway can help so you may want to have a look at our very supportive…..
Living with incurable cancer - incurable patients only
……. support group as this will widen your support base.
I have Nodular Melanoma, if you click on my profile you can see my journey over the last 12 months. I have one more roll of the dice with Chemo but there’s only a 10% chance of holding it at bay. I am a 20 year survivor of stage 4 Non Hodgkin Lymphoma, so grateful for the extra time I’ve had. Doesn’t stop me feeling sadness and despair at where I am now of course!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
