2 weeks and he’s gone

Hi everyone, I posted here a couple of weeks ago regarding my dad. Unfortunately dad didn’t make it. From initial diagnosis he passed away 2 weeks later. We had such hope in the beginning. Bespoke gene therapy. Radiotherapy. Go home and get fit for treatment. What’s turning my grief to anger is after speaking to the surgeon the night dad passed he said different things altogether. He mentioned that they had thought of palliative chemotherapy to buy time. That was never ever mentioned 2 weeks ago. If dad knew he’d have all his business sorted. In those two weeks nobody came to see him. There was meant to be nurses coming to take blood etc but never arrived. I feel he was just abandoned and let down and he felt that too. I’m going to request his medical records because so many things don’t add up. This is going to get me through this. My heart is shattered but I have to go on for dad. Sorry for the long post.

  • Hi again  and I am so sorry to hear your news…. my sincere condolences to you and your family.

This is such a challenging time to navigate but you may find it helpful to join and post in our dedicated…..

This group is a safe place to talk with others who are walking the same journey.

The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides practical information, emotional support or just a listening ear.

Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
