Hi there,

I’m looking for suggestions of groups in this forum that have an ex husband/wife/partner who has been diagnosed with cancer and that co-parent children together. Our children are 14 and 16.

My ex-husband has just been diagnosed with a high grade cancer, and we are looking to share this news with our children later.

I’m keen to understand how other people in a similar situation help support their children during this time.

many thanks

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm sorry to read that your ex-husband has been diagnosed with cancer and it's natural to want to share experiences with others in a similar situation.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the family and friends group, where you'll connect directly with others who have been in a position of having to talk to their children about a cancer diagnosis.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

You might also find this information from Macmillan on talking to children and teenagers when an adult has cancer useful.
