I am very very fatigued after fourth chemo treatment last Thursday. Any advice on how I can increase my energy levels. Also how do I fill my day with things to do when my energy is very low.

Thanks

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I had chemo to treat my cancer in but was fortunate that I didn't suffer with fatigue.

Fatigue is a common side effect of cancer treatment and you might find this information from Macmillan helpful. My chemo team told me to try and do gentle exercise, which sounds counter intuitive, but it does work. I tried to get out for a gentle walk most mornings, gradually extending the length of my walk.

The online community is divided into different support groups but as you haven't said what type of cancer you're being treated for I can't give you a direct link to the group where you can ask questions, share experiences and get support. You could either let me know, and I'll then be able to give you the link, or take a look through this list to chose the right one for you..

Once you've joined you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read that you're also suffering from fatigue so you might also like to take a look at the link I put in my reply to PatMc.

You could also post in the liver cancer group, which I can see you've joined, to see how others with the same type of cancer as you have coped.

    Wishing you all the best
