Hi, I was diagnosed with non evasive muscle bladder cancer last November and had a TURBT and chemo on the 28th November. I was advised in January that they were 99% sure that they had got it all but would carry out further biopsies to make sure. I then had a further procedure and was advised that they had carried out a resection as I had carpet mucosa around the scar site. At the beginning of March I was advised that I had stage 3 pt1 bladder cancer and had a meeting with a specialist consultant on 28th March who advised me that although the cancer was contained within the bladder because it is pt1 if I have immunotherapy the possibility of the tumour coming back are high. I agreed to having my bladder removed which will be done by keyhole surgery and robot assisted. I have been given paperwork that explains what will happen but wondered if any of you can advise me of your experiences and what your recovery period was like.
Hi Herburt and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I didn't have the same cancer as you I know what a stressful time it can be.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the bladder cancer group, as you'll then connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi B2theC and a very warm welcome to the community to you too.
I can see that you haven't joined any groups yet so if you can tell me what brings you here, I can give you a direct link to a group to join for support.
Alternatively you could look through this list and this one to choose the one that's right for you.
Unfortunately, it's my hubbie's bladder cancer that has brought me to this site.
Sorry to hear that B2theC but you'll find amazing support from the other members of the bladder cancer group.
I see from your profile that you have a campervan. We do too and when I was going through my chemo we used to go away locally for 3 nights in between infusions. It helped me to feel more normal.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
