Hello
my dad was recently diagnosed with locally advanced prostrate cancer,
we’re awaiting a bone scan to see if it’s spread he’s 77 and otherwise fit and well
and this was only found by accident he originally went to his GP about numbness in his feet, which is to do with two bulging discs, what I’d like to ask is the MRI scans on my dads back didn’t show any signs of cancer, so therefore I’m hoping and praying that it hasn’t spread anywhere else, but if it had can you live with bone cancer for many years ?
thanks for any help and advise x
Hello Lesley (Lesleymak77)
A warm welcome to the Macmillan Online community, although I am so sorry to find you here under the circumstances, I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the Community and am in the 4th year of my personal Prostate Cancer journey.
The Community is divided up into cancer specific groups and to get the best advice and "meet" people with the same or similar diagnosis as your dad I would advise you to join us over on the Prostate group - here's the link you need:
Once you click on the link and the page opens up, just click on "join" on the black banner at the bottom of the page. Once you have joined the group just introduce yourself in the "new here - say hello" section by either copying and pasting or reposting your original post.
If you have dad's PSA figures, Gleason Score and TNM staging this would help us to help you.
I look forward to "meeting" you again in "our" part of the Community, where you are assured of both a warm welcome and plenty of help and support.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Lesley, and a warm welcome from me, as Brian has said, joining the prostate forum will connect you to a wonderful group of people, guys and girls, all friendly and welcoming, happy to share their experiences and knowledge offer support and understanding to help make your journey easier, I am 3 years into my journey and have tumours in my spine, and have just got home from my 5th holiday this year, with a few more in the pipeline. Lesley there are guys on the prostate forum far more knowledgeable than me regarding bone cancer, who will help you any way they can, PS, we all have a bone scan during diagnosis, it in no way means you have it, My best wishes for your results, and I look forward to seeing you on the prostate forum.
