  1. Hi my name is mify my story starts in Dec 2024 I have ulcerative colitis and my bowel got blo cked so I went to my drs who referred me to a specialist who put the camera up to find my bowel  completely blocked. The next day I was sent to a&e for a c.t .scan on Tuesday I was admitted and told I needed a opp to remove the blockage three days later I had 14 inches of bowel removed and a stoma put in.                                                   I thought that was the end of it but after 2 weeks in hospital I was sent for a pet scan to be told 2 weeks later I had hodgkin lymphoma in my chest and my stomach. 2 days later I started my abvd chemo every 2 weeks for 6 months  I've now just finished my 4th lot and had another pet scan . I feel pretty positive about it but still get nervous about it  but the support I get of the drs .nurses and everyone but especially my wife ( has who has been my rock) and family I know I'll get through this
  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community but sorry to hear about your story to date.

I am Mike and I help out around our Lymphoma groups….. I have been on my journey with 2 rare types of Non Hodgkin’s Lymphomas for over 25 years.

Navigating a cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but getting support from people who have walked or are walking the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and put up your own post in our dedicated Hodgkins Lymphoma Support Group.

This group is a safe place to talk to others with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support. To connect in with the group please click on the link below…….

        Hodgkin lymphoma

……. and once the group page opens you will see a [Black - Click to Join - Banner] at the bottom of the page, click in this box and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.

You can then introduce yourself to the group by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.

You can copy and paste the text from this post into your new post.

I will keep an eye open for you in the group.

  • Hi just to carry my story (life) on this morning I was sent for a blood test and to get the results of my pet scan. The specialist called me and my wife in and got the best news possible after 4 lots (of 12) he said the scan told  him that the cancer had shrunk enormously and to carry on the chemo and it looks like it will cure it.i feel a lot more positive now .

  • Hi again  this is great news and honestly, I am never surprised to hear this….. on the whole Lymphomas are very treatable especially the fast growing they like HL and High-Grade NHLs.

Even in my circumstances with my two very rare had to treat T-Cell NHLs…… (See my story)….. when I was first diagnosed back in 1999 our daughters were 14 and 18…… but we went on to see them graduate, get married, set up very successful businesses and provide us with 4 beautiful granddaughters….. I turn 70 at the end of this year and as a family we celebrated 9.5 years since my last treatment.

I am living a great life and we continue to look forward to what else life has in store for us to enjoy…….. this can be done.

Remember the dedicated Hodgkin lymphoma is there if you need it.

  • I just hope my story ends as good as your highlander

  • I've just read your story and I cannot see anyone beating your positiveness and determination on trying to beat this terrible disease .it is certainly a inspiration to anyone facing treatment .ps I hope you get your holiday

  • If we had to put cancers in a line with the most challenging, difficult to treat with the least positive outcomes at the lower end of the list Lymphomas, although the treatments can be challenging would be very high up the list due to the positive long lasting out comes…….

Push though and you will be looking back in few years remembering the journey and  seeing the future in new light.
