Hi all I don't even know where to start but I'll try

2 yrs practically to the day my mum nearly lost her life to alcohol she was giving 24 hrs to live long story short shes 2 days away from being 2 yrs sober what an amazing achievement

Any way last month she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and my head has gone I have no one to turn to because my boyfriend also has cml so I have to be ultimately strong for him also (he is in remission but it's always going to be there)

I just feel so pushed away by my family as I haven't spoken to my brother and sister for over 4 yrs and 9 Yrs so they don't tell me anything hospital apps treatment nothing and I don't really get much info from mum as she doesn't want to worry me

I know I am making this about me and I really should be thinking about my mum and I am being selfish but this is destroying me internally I have been diagnosed manic depressive since I was 19im now 42  I also suffer with serious anxiety and I can feel my self spiralling every single day and I just really needed to vent I'm sorry if this is not the right forum

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I was the one diagnosed with cancer, I know how it affects all the family.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend a couple for you to join. The first is the cervical cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions and share experiences about your mum's diagnosis and treatment, and the second is the family and friends group where you can discuss your worries and emotions and get support.

To join, just click on the links I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your mum's diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
