Hi. Been diagnosed from a biopsy with stage 2 breast cancer, had a lumpectomy last week for 2 areas and also a sentinel lymph node biopsy , results next week. It’s the waiting that I find hard to deal with and the waves of emotion where I find myself in tears. Scary time and I know positive thoughts and energy will help but finding hard to have them
Hi Schoffers 22, I'm in exactly the same situation right now only my lumpectomy was from one area not two. I know how you're feeling, I try to keep my mind busy on other things but finding it hard to concentrate on much just now. I'm one of the strongest, independent people you'll ever meat but like you I'm feeling very emotional right now (and I hate it) when do you get your results? I get mine next Thursday. I hope and pray we both get good news and we'll be feeling happy emotions after that.
Hi. Yes I get mine next Thursday too but have noticed fluid building up so going tomorrow for a check up as may need anti biotics. I am normally strong and resilient but this has definitely knocked me for six and it’s the fear of the unknown , I wish you well with your results
Good luck today, hopefully an antibiotic will sort it out for you. Thankfully I seem to be ok so far, not sleeping too well though. The waiting for results is definitely the worst part. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too.
Hi Sue41 and Schoffers22 ….. a very warm welcome to the Macmillan Community.
Navigating a cancer journey can be such a stressful and challenging time but as you see, getting support from people who are walking or have walked the ‘exact same' journey can help a lot. (I have a completely different cancer).
The Community is actually divided into dedicated Support Groups (Discussion Rooms) so can I recommend that you look to join and connect in with our dedicated……..
……. support group. Although I do that Schoffers22 you have joint the group already.
This group is a safe place to talk to a wide range of people with a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support.
To connect in with the group please click on the link above then once the group page opens you will see a [Black - Click to Join - Banner] at the bottom of the page, click in this box and this will then confirm that you have joined the group.
You can then introduce yourself to the group by putting up your very own post by clicking [+ Create new post] or [+] in the top right of the group page.
The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial/work guidance or just a listening ear.
Talking to people ‘face to face’ can be very helpful so do check to see if you have any Local Macmillan Support in your area, do also check for a local Maggie's Centre as these folks are amazing.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
