Hello everyone,
I’m 47 years old and have just been diagnosed with lobular breast cancer stage 2 ( just yesterday).
I’m going for an MRI next week to check to see how far it’s spread.
Everything is such a blur at the minute.
I’m so scared and anxious and not sleeping my head is all over the place.
I’m married with 3 children and just don’t have the energy as feeling so fatigued and emotional.
It’s just the waiting and going into the unknown
2 years ago I was diagnosed with bi lateral lobular breast cancer which had spread to lymph nodes on my left side. So I know exactly what you are going through. I was given the option of having a double mastectomy, which I decided was not for me at that time as my surgeon said that she could do a mammaplasty on both breasts as they were so large. The surgery went ok I was in for a day, when they examined the tissue they had removed all the cancer but found some in 2 lymph nodes. Tissue was sent away to America for tests and the score received meant that I would benefit from chemotherapy. I was gutted at the time as I was hoping that surgery and radiotherapy would be enough. I had six rounds of chemotherapy followed by radiotherapy.
Yesterday I went for a mammogram so waiting for the results.
i am now living a normal life doing everything I want to do, because of the cancer diagnosis I have bought a 7.5 meter motorhome and are planning a trip to Europe for 6 weeks in the summer.
i still have trouble sleeping.
believe me the road isn’t easy, but you can get through it especially if you have good friends and McMillan are great. Breast cancer now are also brilliant providing lots of support. Good luck keep me informed of your progress as I may be able to explain what is happening. Sending a virtual hug
Hi Heart77 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer in 2022 so know how scared you're probably feeling right now.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and tests to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you so much I will look into my profile
I’m hoping these forums will help me along my journey
