Breast lumps & discharge

Hi all

I feel a bit ridiculous joining this forum to be honest as I haven't even seen a doctor yet, but I've found lumps and hardness in my left breast and more recently, it has leaked. It definitely feels different to the right hand side.

Noticed the lumpiness a few weeks ago but I just thought I was being daft and feeling something that wasn't there, but on Friday I noticed a definite difference, hardness and the leaking. I always thought that the lumps were supposed to be a clear lump that's visible/felt, which is partly why I ignored it, but I've since read that there are other types of lumps!

Pretty concerned and fearing the worst.

Wife and a mother to a 3 year old.

Will be calling the doctor tomorrow, but I have no idea what to expect or even if my concerns will be listened to.

Does anyone have a similar experiences / tips / reassurance?

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It's natural to fear the worst when you discover something different with your body but you're doing the right think in contacting your GP. How did you get on when you spoke to them today?

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your symptoms into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
