Hi
I was first diagnosed with bowel cancer late January. I then had surgery for a stoma bag, to give everything a rest before treatment. After the surgery i got told it was anal cancer. Which I was told by consultant was treatable and success rate was good. So went away feeling positive and ok. They then said they wanted to do a PET scan just to make sure it hadn't spread. My consultant told me I look really well and that he doesn't think it's spread( these were his words) after a month I went for my Oncology appointment haven't heard anything so presume everything was OK with pet scan. So they tell me it's spread to my liver and I have small custers in my muscles and bones!! I'm now waiting for a biopsy. I can't stand all this waiting I'm absolutely terrified of what they are going to say. I'm only 50. Really struggling. I'm sorry for the long text. Thanks xx
Hi Nala33 and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I know how difficult waiting for results can be.
The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the anal cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support. When you feel ready you can start a new post there in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
Other groups you might want to join are the secondary liver and secondary bone cancer groups as these groups will give you the chance to chat to others whose cancer has spread to these places.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
