I joined the website to reply to a post in the head neck cancer community as I had successful squamous ca. back of tongue treatment 8 years ago. However I found this site whilst looking for detailed descriptions and photographs of permanent head and neck irritated skin and bone changes caused by long term effect of overflowing radiotherapy treatment. On skin changes the only mention I found online was simply the term radiotherapy dermatitis but said to be short duration and no details. I was told at the time of treatment that areas of my jawbone would likely die. I am now am being sent for re-assessment prior to dental work for root infection and ulcer owing to bone looking "unusual". Anyone with similar experience, what happened please.?
Hi Catman
I spotted your other post in HNC group. This sounds like it might be osteoradionecrosis. There are folk back in that group reporting this so pop this post back there.
As far as I know radio dermatitis can be a chronic late effect as well as a short term one. I can't recall anybody in the group mentioning it though.
