Hi all,

My darling wife has breast cancer. She's halfway through chemo and looking at surgery and radiotherapy (maybe) afterwards).  She's struggling and quite angry.  Any advice to help her along...

Thanks.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022 and had surgery followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

My advice "to help her along" would be to suggest to your wife that she joins the online community so that she can connect directly with those of us who have been through, or are going through what she is.

If she doesn't want to join then I'd recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your wife's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Thank you so much for the response. My wife's 1/3 through chemo and has been advised about surgery and radiotherapy in the coming months.  The doctors aren't giving specifics except to say that she's young(ish) and that the main tumor is their target. There are other spots in other places.  Don't know if this is specific enough?

  • When you say

There are other spots in other places

Do you mean that her cancer has spread to other places in her body?
