Breast lump

I found a lump in my left breast 2 weeks ago and was referred to the breast clinic. My appointment was yesterday and the doctor was suspicious of the lump so I had a biopsy and mammogram taken. I am due to go on holiday on 5th April, however my results might come back while I am away. Would you advise going on holiday or cancelling? Bearing in mind it’s likely to be 2 weeks before I get the results so will be back from holiday. Thanks

  • I received my biopsy results in 10 days.  When I had my mammogram and biopsies taken I was told at the time that it looked suspicious.   May be speak to the hospital and tell them your plans, it sounds like you are only going away for a week.  I would say try and have a lovely holiday and worry about things when you get back.  Wishing you good luck with your results xxx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022.

Like you, I was due to go away on holiday a few weeks after my diagnosis and asked if it would still be okay to go. However, as the biopsy results showed that the cancer was Grade 3, they said they wanted to operate on me straight away so I had to cancel the holiday. The best thing to do would be to speak to your BCNS and ask them as they're best placed to advise you based on what they know so far.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
