Feel so down

I was diagnosed with breast cancer in July 24

I had a lumpectomy and then 2 months later another to remove precancerous cells, followed by radiotherapy it all happened really quick, now I feel like I should be up and out and happy, but I'm not and I feel so guilty about it, I'm exhausted from trying to hide the feelings from my loved ones as feel they've gone through enough. I'm also on letrozole which isn't helping my low mood.

I know there must be lots of you feeling this way.

  • Hi Avananna

My cancer is different to yours, but I can relate to the feelings I think you are having. Please don't feel guilty. Have you thought about counselling, quite a few cancer charitys offer it, it may help. A few people in my little bit of this forum have been or are going. The mental health side of cancer is often over looked and cancer is a massive head f**k. Sending hugs. Xx

  • Thankyou, I have been to councilling but think perhaps I need to speak to someone so will look into more. Hope your well xx

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
