Hello all I am 34 and was diagnosed with curvical cancer in January 2023 when I was 32. I have gone through alot of treatment including radiotherapy, chemotherapy and bracytherapy in March 2023 for 6 weeks. Due to the treatment it effected my bowel and kidneys, I have had to have napostomys in the past and going forward have kidney stents for the rest of my life being change every 6 months. I also have a colostomy bag(stoma) as my bowel needed to heal from radiotherapy. All this has had a huge impact on myself and family.
Im looking to talk to people I can offer advise in my experience and to talk to others after treatment and how they cope with life going forward as I'm struggling so hard nearly 2 years on of getting back to 'normal'? What is this, after loosing my job and in chronic pain daily:(. Help x
Hello I am so relieved it’s not just me in a similar situation, I have recently been diagnosed with cervical cancer and my local hospital stating they caught it early and it stage one to then be told it’s stage 4a at a cancer specialist hospital. Due to start Chemo in a week don’t know what to expect. I too have had a double Nephrostomies fitted and are fighting for stent insertion instead. Really worried that I may end up with a stoma bag. I don’t think I’ve cried so much, it’s like I’m hormonal pre child birth. Any advise or support you could offer would be much appreciated x
Hi ERH and welcome to the Macmillan community.
Please come and join us in the cervical cancer group-the link is here
There are many of us who have been through the same treatment you’ve had and I’m sure they’ll be happy to share their experiences if you’d like to join the group and put up a post to introduce yourself.
I’ve got a permanent colostomy and urostomy after a total pelvic exenteration just over 5 years ago for recurrent cervical cancer so I understand the challenges of living as an ostomate!
Always happy to chat and I hope to see you join us soon-you’ll get support with us.

Hi Janiflower and welcome to the Macmillan community.
I’d recommend joining the cervical cancer group where you can meet others who’ve gone through treatments, and in my case stomas, and I’ve given the link in my reply to ERH
i hope to see you join us and introduce yourself there-we have lots of personal experience of different stages of cervical cancer and treatments and we can hopefully help with support and friendship there. We are all in this together.
