HI all, so ive been not very well for about a year now after visiting the Dominican Republic and was later diagnosed with having a mosquito virus in October 2024.
I have had a lot of pain and swellings of lymph nodes and things just seem to have gotten worse towards end of 2025. I have been in and out of hospital having blood tests for just about everything, then I had a call from my consultant in February saying they wanted to book me in for a pet scan in the next 2-3 weeks and need to make me aware it could be cancer. I had the pet scan on the 15th February and as yet have not heard anything, I emailed the receptionist for my consultant 3 weeks ago and was told she was on annual leave and would forward the message but could tell me it says still says under review. I emailed again last Friday and received another reply saying the message would be passed on. Has this happened to anyone else or am I worry about nothing, all I seem to do is feel tired and sleep a lot now and think it's worrying some family members. thanks for listening

I have been on my cancer journey for over 25 years now and unfortunately delays like these are rather common. Everything just takes time to filter through the NHS system…… just keep pushing.

The Community is actually divided into dedicated Cancer Support Groups (Discussion Rooms)………… so should you be diagnosed with cancer do have a look through this link Cancer Specific Groups you will find all our dedicated cancer support groups listed.
These groups are safe places to talk to others who may have a similar diagnosis, treatment experience, to ask questions and get support from members who are navigating the exact same journey.
The Macmillan Support Line is open between 8am-8pm (timings may differ across services) 7 days a week on 0808 808 00 00…… this service provides cancer information, practical information, emotional support, benefits/financial guidance or just a listening ear.
We also have our Ask an Expert section but do allow 3 working days for a reply.
