Hello

I was diagnosed in January with DCIS grade 3, hormone positive Her2 negative. I had a double lumpectomy on the 10th March and met with consultant today. I didn’t get the news I wanted unfortunately. Both tumours removed were larger than expected and 2 out of 5 nodes removed were positive. I also didn’t get clear margins which I was really hoping for.

The next step is to speak with the oncologist about chemotherapy, then a mastectomy, hormone blockers, radiotherapy and hormone therapy for 10 years.

It’s a lot to take in.

I’m hoping to connect with others on a similar journey because I don’t feel like anyone else knows what I’m going through. People either don’t want to talk about it or they don’t know what to say, I would probably be the same. I just feel like it would be great to have someone/ people who I could relate to at the moment because I feel very alone in all this.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I was diagnosed with TNBC in April 2022 and had a lumpectomy followed by chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the breast cancer group which is a great place to connect directly with others who have the same type of cancer as you.

When you feel ready you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
