Hi. I'm new to the group. Diagnosed with rare eye cancer 2 weeks ago. I'm am 6 days post plaque radiation insertion, and 3 days post plaque removal. No idea were to start, not been given much information, won't find out the effectiveness of the radiation therapy for 6 weeks, just in limbo now.
Hi Moryat and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and although I wasn't diagnosed with the same type of melanoma as you I understand how overwhelming a cancer diagnosis can be.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the eye cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and connect with others who have the same type of cancer as you.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hello, it sounds like we might be at similar stages I’m 3 weeks post plaque removal, but it was in for a full week and incredibly painful; but I’ve had a lot of information and support. I’ve just put it all in a file or to the back of mind if honest. I posted in the eye-cancer forum as the patient who sits with tears in silence.
my vision is almost back to normal and I’m pain free now, how are you getting on?
I’ve got all my results coming up mid April - not looking forward to that, maybe that’s when reality will hit.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
