Hi all,
This is my first posting and with mixed emotion which I’m sure I don’t need to explain. After a breast lumpectomy I have just had my 2nd of 4 EC chemos with another few rounds of paclitaxel to follow.
I started with the cold capping and was/am willing to do all I can to make the end of this time most beneficial to me. However I’ve lost nearly all my hair, which I know is more down to the EC than the failure of the cold capping. So now it’s whether I feel there’s is enough to be gained in the regrowth as to whether I continue.
I joined the cold cap company social group yesterday which you had to be screened for, and after some digging I was so mad to find out that the majority, if not all, of the profiles, and therefore experiences, were fake. This has really made me angry and lose any belief I had in the process. I guess what I’d like to know is - for those who DIDNT cold cap and had EC how has your hair regrowth experience been?
Hi Nello and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2022 and had a lumpectomy followed by 3 cycles of EC and then 12 weeks of paclitaxel.
I decided not to cold cap and had lost most of my hair after my 2nd session of EC. My hair had started to grow back towards the end of my paclitaxel treatment and was long enough not to need a head covering about 2 months after all my chemotherapy treatment had finished.
The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join the breast cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.
To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
