Hi I’m Cassandra. I’m new here. I was recently diagnosed with endometriod carcinoma FIGO 1 stage 1a. My first visit with the oncologist is the 24th. I’m a month away from my 34th birthday and I don’t have any kids. I’ve always wanted them but this kinda sealed it for that. I am just grateful it was caught early. If there’s anyone out there dealing with something similar, What were your next steps and your options for treatment?
Hello Cassandra
Welcome to the Online Community.
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of endometrial cancer.
With a provisional stage of 1a your cancer is at its earliest stage. Early stage endometrial cancer is a very treatable cancer.
For most ladies the next step is a hysterectomy where it is medically possible. For early grade and stage sometimes this can be enough. (stage 1a, grade 1) After surgery anything removed is sent to pathology for a final staging and grading. It is these results that will confirm whether or not you need any further treatment.
For some women there may be a hormonal option that can be tried that may be able to give time to have a child first. This is normally for the early stage and grade cancers. If this is something that you would want to try then you can ask your oncologist on the 24th whether this would be an option for you.
The Online Community is divided into different forums so may I suggest that you join the Womb group where you wil lbe able to get support from ladies who are going through similar. If you click on this link, it will take you there.
