I was diagnosed with lung cancer last June and it’s been a rough year, luckily I was able to have bottom lobe taken away 6 months ago & luckily they were able to take all the cancer away & now I have been told I will be seen every 6 months for two years & then yearly! Problem is I want to go on holiday but I don’t know who will insure me! Has anyone any information that can help me please!

  • Hi Griff, the fact that you are no longer having treatment and cancer free should stand you in good stead. Try your ordinary insurance companies and see what they're like. There are some specific ones who insure for lots of different illnesses,  insurance with is just one of many. I also have to sort out insurance for a holiday, although my oncologist has said to just get ordinary insurance and not be covered for cancer. I have ehic card and they will give me antibiotics to take with me. She said, at the end of the day, if you feel that bad just book a flight back the following day. It's only Europe so flights are easy to get and probably cheaper than the insurance would be. Have a lovely holiday

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

Unfortunately, it can be more difficult to find travel insurance when a cancer diagnosis is involved so please join us over in the travel insurance forum for cancer patients group to see the recommendations from others who have been successful.

Once you've joined, have a look through the threads there called 'Recommended Travel Insurance' and Recommended travel insurance 2023-24', which you'll find on the first page. They are full of recommendations from other cancer patients who have got reasonably priced travel insurance.
