I do not have cancer but my sister was diagnosed with advanced ovarian cancer 2 years ago. She has had lots of treatment and is currently cancer free. It was found that she has a BRCA 2 gene mutation and I was tested and have it too. I think I will be having surgery to remove my fallopian tubes and ovaries as well as regular mammograms. I have a BMI of 41.3 and I am concerned that they won’t do the surgery unless I lose some weight. I’m interested if others have experienced this and have had to lose some weight before surgery. Also why don’t they remove the womb as well when doing preventative surgery.
Hi Nature_Lover
I 'spoke' to you in the BRCA positive group and bumped your post as you hadn't had any replies yet. Hopefully others there will pop on and respond soon.
The New to the Community group is like a reception desk where new members are signposted to the correct group so you probably won't get any replies from other BRCA positive people here.
Wishing you all the best
