Hi everyone,
I have been referred for an oral biopsy as I have white lesions on the inside of my cheek, and a slight swelling of the back of my tongue. I've had this for at least 12 months, never thought anything off it until dentist made referral to School of Dentistry to get the white patches checked out. They then told me it was oral leukoplakia and I needed a biopsy to see if it had developed into oral cancer. I live in Belfast and the waiting time is 6 weeks. I'm 66 years of age, healthy and fit, not a smoker or drinker. I'm obviously very anxious. Last year I took out private health insurance which I totally forgot to mention at my appointment. Does private health insurance cut the waiting time? Any advice very welcome.
Post this on the head and neck forum....lots there have gone down the private health route....plenty of sound advice and support....click on the link.....community.macmillan.org.uk/.../head-neck-cancer-forum
