Biopsy on nose and MOHs to follow

Good evening,

I’ve joined this group as I had a biopsy this morning on my nose and I’ve been told it’s Basel cell carcinoma. The consultant said it will require Mohs surgery and a skin graft. The actual results will take a few weeks, but I have already been told what will take place, so looking pretty certain. I’ve made the mistake of researching online which has made me feel even more worried about the prospect of face surgery and skin grafting, in addition to processing the fact it’s cancer on my nose.

I’ve joined this group to hopefully connect with others to help me get through this difficult period. Sending positive thoughts and light to all those facing challenges too.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and I had a BCC removed from my chest in 2021, although it was by simple surgery, not Mohs.

The online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join us over in the skin cancer group, as you'll then connect directly with others who have had this type of surgery for BCC to questions, share experiences and get support.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
