Hi can anyone tell me when you get told what breast cancer you have, my sister was recently diagnosed with breast cancer , but she has not be told which one , we are obviously worried because we would like to know if it's hereditary
Hi Overthink
I was told what type of breast cancer I had when I saw the surgeon a few weeks after my surgery. In total that was about 8 weeks after I'd originally been told that a biopsy showed I had breast cancer.
Whether it might be hereditary or not depends on whether your sister carries faulty BRCA genes and not on the type of cancer that she has. You can read more about faulty genes by clicking here.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
