Meditation

I have just been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. I am waiting for tests/treatment options. However, when I worked in a hospice, I read a fair bit of research on relaxation/meditation which was showing some positive results for T cell production. I do already meditate but I wondered if there were guided meditations specific to cancer/one's body "attacking" the cancer (or loving it etc) and also one's they used in the treatment phase that people liked that they would be happy to point me to, for me to start a daily practice. I'm spiritual but don't have a religion so would want (ideally) to be looking at something not specific to a religion.
Many thanks for your consideration, DJaneC

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

The online community is divided into different support groups and I can see that you've already found and joined the bowel cancer group, which is a great place to ask questions, share experiences and get support.

When you are ready, you can start a new post there in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

You might also like to join the general cancer discussions group to ask about meditation, etc. If this is something that you'd like to do, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.

It would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
